| I thought that I would be better about writing blog entries now that it
was about wedding planning, but I guess I was wrong. I guess I should
be used to it by now, since according to Mark I'm always wrong.
Anyway, here's a mini-update. We have reserved our place and put
down the deposit, so our wedding is officially going to be at the
Universal City Hilton on Saturday February 17, 2007. Tentatively
scheduled for 11:30 am.
We are also trying to figure out what our first song dance will
be. Our top choices so far: "I like it" by DeBarge, "Let's
stay together" by Al Green, "Sweet Thing" the Mary J. Blige version,
and "It had to be you" the Harry Connick Jr. version.
My sister and I also picked out a bridesmaid dress that we like and
hopefully will look good on everybody. My sister likes it with
spaghetti straps.

Mark got his ring, which is really really nice! It's made out of
tungsten carbide which is the hardest metal around I guess.
It looks very manly, which is great for him.

| My cousin's getting married in September and had the brilliant idea of keeping a blog so all the bridesmaids could coordinate what's going on. Since you only get married once in your life, I thought I would copy her idea, and keep a record of the behind the scenes action of the Gau-Kawakami nuptials. =9
To start it off, here's the story of how he proposed:
We were greeted by a horrendous storm as we got off the plane from Los Angeles to New Jersey to meet my parents. The initial meeting went well and we were off to take my Grandma to my aunt's place in Long Island. Unbeknownst to me, Mark took an unexpected opportunity during breakfast when he was left alone with my parents to ask for their permission to marry me. Lucky for him they said yes! =9 It was Mark's first time in New York, so the plan of the day was to drop my Grandma off in Long Island, and then head to the city for some sightseeing after lunch. Unfortunately, the weather was still awful and my dad, having woken up much earlier than normal to pick us up, started dozing off at the lunch table. So it was decided to let my dad take a nap and wait out the storm for a while. We were in my aunt's attic enjoying the stormy ocean view, when Mark asked how much I loved him. My answer was: 'To infinity and beyond' =9 His answer, as he was getting down on one knee, was: 'So much that I want to spend the rest of my life with you.' Before he could properly propose, I already had the ring on, and poor guy, I made him propose again, so I could say yes. =)
| I'm sitting here doing what I often do when I finally write a xanga entry. Procrastinate! Really, the last thing I imagined myself doing at the age of 29 is homework. Oh well, if it helps me make more $$$$ in the near future, it's worth it. Though it is something satisfying to finishing a test with the feeling that you did pretty well. Is that nerdy??
On the home front, Future Hubby and I moved into our first place together. It's rather nice not having to drive back and forth between places and have a place we can both call home. The one down side is that I now have a lot less closet and bathroom space. I had to leave a lot of stuff at my sister's too, including most of my stuffed animals and all my books. Oh well, it just means I can start collecting more stuff!
We're going to take my dad out for his birthday to my uncle's new restaurant which is called Aphrodisiac. All the food items have sexy names, but I wonder if any of them really work? We shall soon find out.
Anyway, I guess it's time to actually start studying. bleh!
| While I'm sitting here waiting for some papers to print, I decided I would share the stories I wrote for our wedding site. Also, for those of you interested in our developing wedding details (which there aren't very many right now) our wedding site can be found on weddingchannel.com.
How We Met:
We had known each other casually for about two years, chatting at various dinners thrown by a mutual friend. Then one summer night under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl, he impressed me with his gentlemanly offer to carry my coats, while I juggled my other belongings. *Sigh* Thus began my crush on the man who will be my hubby. Over the next week, we saw quite a bit of each other, courtesy of our mutual friend, who was trying to get the most of her LA experience before she left for the Bay Area. Opportunity struck when we discovered we both liked poker, and over the next few weeks of hanging out we found that we had a lot more in common than that. Finally, one eventful night after talking about our philosophies on dating over hot bowls of udon, and on route to Cheesecake Factory for some yummy strawberry shortcake (better than cheesecake!!), he mustered up his courage (I say courage since he has since told me he had no idea how I felt) and asked the fateful question..... 'Do you want to go out on a date?' and the rest as they say is history!
Stay tuned for how he proposed!
